LARGE
SCALE TRIAL

Large Scale Trial Image

Prove commercial throughput and reactor stability before you commit CAPEX, saving time and lowering uncertainty.

The main goal is to verify the reactor’s operational integrity during biomass pyrolysis, including stable and trouble-free performance. Additionally, assess the system’s daily biomass processing capacity and determine the optimal production speeds to maximize biochar yield and efficiency.

Our services

Your project is split into three phases.

Understanding Your Feedstock: We begin with a physical assessment of your feedstock. Our team evaluates key quality parameters such as moisture content and flowability. Based on the results, we provide recommendations for any necessary pretreatments to ensure your biomass is in optimal condition. These pretreatments may include grinding, drying, or other adjustments. We are also equipped to work with multiple types of feedstock.

Defining criteria for designing the trials:

Once we understand the characteristics of your feedstock, we assess how it flows through our Single Train Unit. As a starting point, we recommend running a three-day processing trial. This initial approach can be adjusted based on your specific goals and expectations. These trials help us determine the potential daily biochar production and overall system performance.

Assess your biochar quality and production:

As the final step, we provide you with a comprehensive analysis of your biochar characteristics and BPU system performance. The results are presented in a detailed biochar report, aligned with IBI standards. In addition, we include a basic Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) report that quantifies the carbon sequestration potential of your operation. This report offers valuable insights into the carbon credits you may be eligible to generate.

This is our initial proposal to operate in our BPU, but we can incorporate additional targeted testing as needed to optimize biochar production, especially if projects grow in complexity or show promising improvement potential. Tests that can guide us toward enhanced production include these related services:
  • Biomass Characterization
  • Biochar Lab Analysis and Report
  • Additional and Specific Lab Analyses (optional)
    • Proximate/Ultimate Analysis
  • Stack Emission Test
  • Mass & Energy Balance
  • Biochar Postprocessing Service (optional)
  • LCA (Profitability)
  • TEA (Profitability)
